Installation of an Infant Car Seat with a Base » A 6 Step Process

1) Identify the Belt Path on the Base

2) Place the vehicle belt through the belt path and buckle.

3) Push your body weight onto the base and pull the excess belt webbing of a lap only belt or the shoulder belt portion of a lap/shoulder belt away from the buckle, taking out as much slack at possible, (It is the lap portion of the belt which secures the child seat.)
Activate the locking mechanism.

4) Place the infant car seat onto base and put the carry handle in the down position.

5) Check for secure fit by placing your hands on the base, near the belt path, and pull from side to side and forward. The infant car seat should not move more than an inch forward or sideways.

6) An infant car seat should be secured at a 45 degree angle. If the base is an adjustable base, adjust it to achieve a proper angle. If the base is not adjustable place a rolled towel or foam noodle underneath the front of the base at the vehicle seat bite.
